as a brunette mexican girl with a big nose who grew up watching the disney princess movies and loving herself more than is commonly accepted, I’ll just say this… if you’re a good parent, like my parents were, a blonde character in a cartoon isn’t going to damage your little girl, or her sense of self importance in “society.” I won’t deprive my three year old of a cartoon, that she loves to sing along with and say the lines to, because of my own insecurities or the ones other people tell me I’m supposed to have.

Tongue-eating Louse (Cymothoa exigua) is not an insect, but rather a parasitic isopod (Family: Cymothoidae ) that lives inside the mouths of fish. Mature females will then attach themselves the host tongue, while males attach to the gill arches beneath and behind the female. The female Tongue-eating Louse then attaches itself to the remaining tongue stub, replacing the fishes tongue with its own body. The fish uses the “parasitic tongue” the same way it would used its real tongue. The Tongue-eating louse will feed on the host’s blood and mucus. Tongue-eating Louse do exhibits sexual reproduction and will under go protandy, when males are presents without a female
Another example of something that Old Rich White Men have culturally appropriated. Humans find it so acceptable to pierce and adorn their tongues in jewelry when, in reality, this practice originated with fish and their parasitic neighbors. Now humans use tongue piercing as a fashion statement which is extremely harmful, especially to otherkin like myself who identify as parasitic isopods. I pride myself on being very open minded but I cannot find a good reason for this sort of cultural appropriation where humans are stealing from other species. These are sacred, time honored traditions and everyone is hurt when they are stolen from us.
